Spring Detox Yoga Series
This 3-part series encompasses 3 classes in total, all designed to focus on a specific theme corresponding with the spring season.
Sunday 3/30 Liver focus on digestion and detoxification.
The liver is responsible for detoxification, metabolism, hormone regulation, immune function. Class will be designed around liver stimulation through poses, breath work, and therapy ball work, to bring about better blood flow and spaciousness in this area. Expect some flow, some longer held yin style poses, and some massage (with therapy balls) in the upper right quadrant of the abdomen. Essential oils will be used to further support the practice.
Liver aiding beet, lime and ginger juice shots will be served at the end of this class.
Sunday 4/27 Lungs focus on prana/life force
The lungs are what bring in air from the outside world, filter toxins, purify nourishment and send it to be carried through other systems for life force support. In this class we will practice pranayama, or breath control, which allows us to change our physiology simply by breathing faster or slower, targeting breathing towards an area or intention, or safely restricting breath to create various effects. Class will include pranayama techniques for detoxification and calming, yoga poses utilizing breath for steadiness as well as compressing poses to create lung stamina. Chanting will also be utilized to stimulate the lungs and bring about feelings of groundedness and connection
Lung health essential oil blend will be included before and after class.
Sunday 5/25 Kidneys focus on Kidneys/Vitality
The kidneys are responsible for detoxification, excretion, fluid balance, electrolyte balance, and activation of vitamin D. Class will include therapy ball work in the kidney area (just below ribs on back side of the body to stimulate kidneys and increase blood flow to the area. Twisting poses will be offered as a theme throughout to “wring out” organ area and aide the detoxification process. Meditation will focus on life force and creating intention around aligning with the new life and vitality of the spring season.
Kidney supporting iced hibiscus tea will be served at the end of class.
